Our church holds a healing service once per month for anyone that wants to ask God to heal them. Sometimes we stand at the altar and ask for prayer for someone else, we accept the anointing oil on our forehead and the hand of an elder in the church is laid on our head during the prayer of faith as if we were the one receiving.
Why did we start these services that aren’t packing out the church? Because we believe God answers prayer. We believe that God still heals today. Someone asked us to. We like asking God to heal people because we care about people and we quote the Bible: “You are the God that heals” as we pray.
God knows, but there’s something powerful about praying the Scriptures. There’s a verse that says “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God:” Romans 10:17.
Dr. Slobodan Krstevski, Ph.D. wrote GOD’S HEALING SECRETS, published by WORD ALIVE PRESS, copyright 2010. On page 50, Dr. Krstevski said, “When we take the word of healing and we believe it and confess it (just like we did with the word of salvation), we will be healed.”
He explains that he’s not a believer in “name it and claim it,” but we do need faith.
Jesus healed less people in His home town because of their unbelief, we’re told in Matthew 13:58. He was too familiar to them.
My husband preaches a segment of Scripture, reminds people that it’s up to God whether He wants to heal or not, depending on His purposes and then he prays with faith, because so many Scriptures make it clear that God wants us healthy. God loves us more than we can possibly comprehend and it’s an unconditional love if we choose Him.
If we take our free will and curse Him, and treat others in horrendous ways, then He gets mad. We are made in His image and likeness it says in Genesis 1:26, 27 (KJV). So we understand if someone treats our loved ones in an abominable way, that we’ll get mad. Like Father, like sons and daughters.
He asks us to forgive others, as He forgives us in Matthew 6:12.
I’ve heard stories of people being healed physically after they finally forgave someone they held a grudge against.
If you are sick, I pray you’ll be healthy according to God’s wishes for your life.
He wants everyone to repent and avoid perishing in the afterlife, according to 2 Peter 3:9, (KJV): “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
That’s His utmost concern if I understand the Word of God correctly. He watches out for all, but as earthly parents have more love for their own offspring, I believe God feels the same way. Everyone came into being by God the Creator according to Genesis 1, but John 1:12 (CEV) says, ” Yet some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be the children of God.”
Do you believe God heals today? Would you enter a church for a healing service if you were sick? I hope you are well and these are theoretical questions for you.
