Psalm 91

This is Psalm 91 in the (CEV) or Contemporary English Version. I like the (KJV), too.

Psa 91:1 Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful.
Psa 91:2 Then you will say to the LORD, “You are my fortress, my place of safety; you are my God, and I trust you.”
Psa 91:3 The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases.
Psa 91:4 He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall.
Psa 91:5 You won’t need to worry about dangers at night or arrows during the day.
Psa 91:6 And you won’t fear diseases that strike in the dark or sudden disaster at noon.
Psa 91:7 You will not be harmed, though thousands fall all around you.
Psa 91:8 And with your own eyes you will see the punishment of the wicked.
Psa 91:9 The LORD Most High is your fortress. Run to him for safety,
Psa 91:10 and no terrible disasters will strike you or your home.
Psa 91:11 God will command his angels to protect you wherever you go.
Psa 91:12 They will carry you in their arms, and you won’t hurt your feet on the stones.
Psa 91:13 You will overpower the strongest lions and the most deadly snakes.
Psa 91:14 The Lord says, “If you love me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe.
Psa 91:15 When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honor you.
Psa 91:16 You will live a long life and see my saving power.”

Here is the King James Version:

Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Psa 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
Psa 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Psa 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Psa 91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Psa 91:7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Psa 91:8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Psa 91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
Psa 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Psa 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Psa 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Psa 91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Psa 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
Psa 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

We have an elderly lady in our church that reads the Living Bible, a paraphrase of the Bible by Tyndale Publishing, for comprehension and memorizes the King James Version for ease of remembering. The language is beautiful, although some word meanings have changed over the centuries.

I have a friend that tells me, “I’m praying Psalm 91 over you,” and believe me, I’m blessed by that. I’m sorry this is short but it just passed over into Saturday and my Friday was a busy day. God bless you big time, I pray.
