When I was a young mom listening to Christian radio, I came across “Focus on the Family.”
I needed all the help I could get being a stay-at-home mom while my husband worked long hours.
The programs may talk about improving communication between husband and wife, or dealing with a rebellious teenager, or a schedule for cleaning house, or single parenting, or effective non-abusive discipline of children, money management and many other aspects for a healthy functioning family.
Today, the thirteenth of May, a former pastor spoke to a group of men about keeping their eyes, their hands, their thoughts and their passion for their wives only. He warned his sons to avoid pornography before they came close to their teen age years. He likened it to drinking soiled water out of a filthy toilet.
He also suggested ways out for those who are addicted to pornography.
Proverbs often talks about foolish men being lured by adulterous women to their death. As a woman reader, it reminds me to be totally faithful to my husband in thoughts, in the way I dress, in the way I interact with men. It’s healthy for my marriage and for other people’s marriages and for society as a whole.
It’s also pleasing to God. In Genesis 2:24 (KJV), God says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.”
