The sixth commandment in the NKJV of the Bible in Exodus 20:13 states, “You shall not murder.”
Murder is the taking of an innocent life, which I heard quite a bit about on our Christian radio station today when the news came on.
Police in Dallas, TX were shot and killed by a sniper. Buffalo, NY police received threats that they were next. People killed in nearby cities. It broke my heart for the victim’s families and for our nation.
I said to my husband, “What is going on?”
“As people move further and further from God, people will do whatever is right in their own sight,” he said.
That’s what happened in the book of Judges.”
The Old Testament gives examples of people’s lives for our benefit. It shows individuals making good choices and making evil choices. The Bible doesn’t sugar coat things. If a man or a woman decides to act shamefully, there will be consequences. Gal_6:7, (KJV), says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
A common cliché in America based on that verse: “What goes around comes around.”
The twenty-five year old sniper in Dallas lost his life today as well. What a tragedy.
People need the Lord to get past hate and violence. He made us all and values us all. “Dear God, please help us! I ask in Jesus’ name.”
