My husband got to finish watching “Bolt” after a hard day’s work. “Bolt” was produced by Disney movies and released in November of 2008.
We both like seeing people reach beyond circumstances that label them as underdogs and them finding their way up.
That’s probably what made him want to be a pastor. The Scriptures say that we become more than conquerors through Jesus Christ. When you have that kind of news, you want to share it. Rom 8:37, (KJV) tells us, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
After accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior around age ten, he never got discipled and rarely went to church. Yet, when he had the opportunity to delve further into Judo for the spiritual aspects of it, something held him back. Someone in the supernatural realm guarded him from leaving the Christian faith in college. I had accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior around age fifteen. So, two years later, I met him after our friends played matchmaker.
Secular colleges back in the day encouraged students to open their minds to all the religions out there. At orientation, I remember the older students introducing us around campus and telling our large group to leave behind our parents’ teachings and philosophies. We were free to explore and they tried to get girls to throw off standards of modesty in a co-ed setting outdoors. Thankfully, no one complied, but subtle and not-so-subtle pressures surrounded us most days of the week.
The Judeo/Christian faith was probably the only religion not pushed forward to examine, except by a few believers. A housemate of mine paid $60.00, which was a lot of money for a college kid, to receive a word to meditate on and call out to in our Junior year. Now I know that that name was the name of a demon. God kept me from going down that same path.
I took one class where we learned some about building a log cabin and placing a lime and straw and water mixture between the gaps as caulking.
One afternoon, the professor said a man from Canada was going to visit. “He’s a religious man,” he said, of a faith acceptable to the professor. He handed the students an amulet and each person held the leather lace attached to the amulet so it swung over their hand. It formed a perfect circle as it moved gently in the air.
Finally, I asked if I could give it a try. I suspended it over my hand and waited to see if it would move. It began jerking in and out like “The Scrambler” ride at an amusement park.
I was embarrassed. I asked the professor and each person in the small group what was going on. None of them gave me eye contact, and no one answered. As far as I know, I never mentioned I was a born again Christian.
Years later, I remembered this incident and got thinking that the spirit associated with the amulet got agitated by the Spirit of God, whom I serve.
God has been faithful to me even when I wasn’t faithful to Him over the years.
I love Christmas because the songs about Jesus tell it all. How Jesus stepped out of heaven to be born in a lowly manger, an animal trough. He became a man to take on all the sins of everyone on earth so people could find Him as their Redeemer.
He died as punishment for our sins so we wouldn’t have to die in eternity.
Jesus was the sinless Lamb here to appease God’s wrath for our awful pride and rebellion and crimes against others and against God.
Jesus is coming back again. It’s pretty clear in the book of Matthew:
Mat 24:30, (KJV), And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
One day Jesus will be our ruler. Isaiah prophesied about the coming Messiah hundreds of years ago and Jesus fulfilled every prophesy in the Old Testament. Here is Isa 9:6-7: (KJV), For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
May God bless you and protect you and me from the lies of the enemy of our soul.
