God is on the Move

I’ve noticed that God accomplishes all that He wants to accomplish despite economic downturns, drought, troubles of any kind, and people’s predictions. He put Babylonian visitors inside the king of Israel’s home. King Hezekiah showed them every bit of riches he’d accumulated. The Babylonians were not close to Israel in proximity. God knew He was going to use the Babylonians to punish the Jews for their idolatry and also to strengthen them through adversity so as to draw them closer to Him.

2Kings 20:12, (KJV),  At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

2Ki 20:13  And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

2Ki 20:14  Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

2Ki 20:15  And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

2Ki 20:16  And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.

2Ki 20:17  Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.

2Ki 20:18  And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

2Ki 20:19  Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?

Hezekiah used to pray to the Lord when he was sick or in trouble. Then he changed and turned to other kings for help in time of war or went to the physicians when he was sick. He lost his way with God. He was not concerned for his offspring.

I get concerned when I learn that a king whom God healed turned to the physicians and ignored God altogether. I know God doesn’t object to doctors. Yet, I remember a time when I had a sinus infection from November until February, going to the doctor every time the antibiotic ran out because I wasn’t healing up. I was younger then, maybe in my thirties. Finally, after three months I cried out to God. Within a couple of days the sinus infection cleared up. I learned my lesson. I pray first and do natural healthy things, like drink more water, eat an apple, try to get more vitamin C in my body, exercise, rest and sometimes drink Echinacea tea. If those don’t work, I ask God if He wants me to go to the doctor.

I don’t always hear from God, so then I’ll make the decision to go. All I know is that we have an enemy of our souls that’s been caricatured in cartoons and publications so people don’t believe he’s real.

The apostle Peter wrote to the followers of Jesus:

1Peter 5:5, (KJV),  Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

1Pe 5:6  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

1Pe 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

1Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

1Pe 5:9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

1Pe 5:10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

1Pe 5:11  To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

God knows who will be president of the United States of America and which nations will align with other nations. He’s got everything under control. Everything. We’re to do our part and He will do His part and we can rest and be at peace. He’s calling more believers into His kingdom in these end times, and unfortunately, many believers will leave the faith in end times because of the wiles of the enemy. That is why Peter tells us to beware of the evil one and to resist him and to draw close to God.

Jesus defeated the devil with His death on the cross, but He also warned His disciples that some would hear the word of God and believe and then leave Him when times get rough, in the parable of the seeds and the sower:

Luke 8:4, (KJV),  And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:

Luk 8:5  A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

Luk 8:6  And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

Luk 8:7  And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

Luk 8:8  And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luk 8:9  And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

Luk 8:10  And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

Luk 8:11  Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Luk 8:12  Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Luk 8:13  They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Luk 8:14  And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

Luk 8:15  But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

I’d rather go through hard times here on earth than to suffer for all of eternity in the lake of fire that was designed for Lucifer, the fallen angel and the angels that followed him instead of remaining with God.

Isa 14:10  All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

Isa 14:11  Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

Isa 14:12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Isa 14:13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Isa 14:14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Isa 14:15  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Isa 14:16  They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

Isa 14:17  That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

And in Matthew 25:41, Jesus said,   “Then the king will say to those on his left, ‘Get away from me! You are under God’s curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels!’”

2Peter 2:4, (KJV),  For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2Pe 2:5  And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2Pe 2:6  And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

2Pe 2:7  And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

2Pe 2:8  (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

2Pe 2:9  The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

God is on the move and I believe He wants us to be on the move for His righteousness sake as well as for the welfare of others.

May God bless you.

Jesus Doesn’t Say or Do Things for Popularity

Jesus spent three years in the public eye doing ministry and early on He called men to follow after Him as disciples. He cared about these men, but He certainly didn’t sugar coat things. When Peter speaks out, Jesus corrects him.

Matthew 16:20,(ESV)  Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

Mat 16:21  From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

Mat 16:22  And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.”

Mat 16:23  But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

Mat 16:24  Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Mat 16:25  For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Mat 16:26  For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

Mat 16:27  For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

I remember many years ago when my husband worked for a company, we attended a conference. We met up with someone who used to work for the company, but now they hired out to help someone with the same business many states away. When they finished helping the owner of the business he was going to give them their own business as a thank you for getting his enterprise on the right track.

I felt as if the Holy Spirit spoke to my inner most being: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?”

I got very quiet. I didn’t pray, I thought about it. Then I prayed, “Lord, am I supposed to tell them that or is that for me?”

I didn’t get a leading either way. So, I let it go. After that I prayed for them. I still pray for them, because I have no idea what their relationship with God is. I pray when they come to mind. It’s not often, but I trust God to remind me if they need a current prayer and I count on Him answering prayers that I’ve forgotten about.

I’ve seen Him do that in my life. The town I live in has some nice features that I heard about in the 1990’s. I prayed that if we should ever move, I’d like to live here. I totally forgot about it. Then ten years or more later, we got the opportunity to pastor a church here. I only remembered my prayer a few years ago. God amazes me.

Sometimes I wonder if I pray something because He wants that for me, or if I pray and then He graciously answers. I’ve had so many wonderful blessings from God over all these years. I’ve found He’s incredibly trustworthy, even if I don’t see it at first. In other words, I don’t always get my way. I praise God for that. I’ve thanked Him for not answering certain prayers with a yes when at the time I was sure I wanted that yes. Then something would come to my attention and I’d understand that a yes would have been painful.

He’s a perfect Father.

I’ve been asking God for wisdom because Proverbs three talks about all the benefits of wisdom. Solomon wrote much of Proverbs and he was supposed to have been the wisest man ever. As God answers that prayer, which He tells us in James  1:5, (ESV):  “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him,” I  know that He wants to answer it because it tells me to ask in the Word.

The next verse does remind the readers to ask in faith and without doubt.

I’ve been thinking if God supplies me with His wisdom, then I’ll know whether the Scripture about being careful not to lose my soul because of gaining the world is for me alone or for me to share with my friends.

Jesus spoke the truth in love. Even when He spoke forcefully to the Pharisees about not being hypocrites, He was livid that they were taking their positions of authority and hurting people that lived under their rules. Some of them became His followers.

God is love!

Be blessed.

Spiritual Warfare

My husband and I had a busier day than normal. I almost didn’t go to a gathering of friends for dinner, prayer, worship and then a devotional.

Ever since last Monday I’ve been battling nausea. Yesterday I asked my husband to check the internet for side effects of amoxicillin. The top listing: nausea.

With reservations, I joined my husband and set out our offering – salad makings.

As we talked, prayed and then sang songs honoring God I felt peace or something having lifted. By the end of the night, a lady who’s a nurse asked how my nausea was doing. “Gone!”

Praise God.

One of the attendees said she woke up the other night because she heard a sound in another room. She knew her house was securely locked. She looked over to her husband; he was sleeping soundly. She heard another noise in the hallway. When she looked up, a man was there. She said, “Satan stood there. I knew it was him. He waved for me to join him.”

I spoke loudly, “No way!”

My husband kept on snoring. “This is a Christian home. You don’t belong here. Go back to where you belong.”

She said it was like particles of dark colors dissolving and falling away into nothingness.

Once again she looked to her husband. He slept through the whole thing.

When she began telling us, she mentioned that she had a faith building yet a faith nudging experience. She wants to know more about God and she wants to follow Him more closely.

I’ve wondered if my food poisoning just happened or was it an attack after I finished blogging about Jesus returning soon?

I rely on God’s Word: 1John 4:1, (KJV): Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1Jn 4:2  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

1Jn 4:3  and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God, and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

1Jn 4:4  You are from God, little children, and have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

The One in you is greater than the one in the world.  Thank You, Jesus.

May God bless you and protect you.

Time is Precious

Time is precious. I decided to spend time at home cleaning today, but I needed to deliver a package to a lady who underwent a lumpectomy yesterday. Our ladies Bible study put books and cookies and candy and magnetized tablets with a pen in one, a card, and some other goodies to bless our friend with a basket, gathered it in clear plastic and put a white bow over the twist tie. It was right after I went with a gal to a nursing home Bible study. Then, I dropped off a pretty scarf another friend lent me for my daughter’s wedding.

When I stopped at the church to get the gift basket, I found one of our ladies had left her purse. She was helping one of the women up the stairs and out into the cold and the purse took second place in her mind. I called her and left a message. I got home around one p.m. and made a quick veggie sandwich, mmm good.

I did some laundry and did about an hours worth of cleaning when my husband called to see if I really did want to go to a movie and have dinner. Despite the cold, I drove forty-five minutes to meet him at one of the malls around here, and we enjoyed our meal.

I wish I could say I enjoyed the movie that we waited another forty-five minutes for it to start. The two people behind us left, saying what a dumb movie. Craig fell asleep, as did one of the people behind us. When she woke up, that’s when they left.

Some viewers at the front of the theater laughed and laughed. The rest of the crowd left the place quietly. I wished I could get our money back, but after sitting through the whole thing it doesn’t work that way.

I asked my husband if he thinks the world is getting darker. We met at Barnes and Nobles Bookstore. They have a nice selection of Christian books. I didn’t see a Christian Teen Book section, I think they had one some years back. The regular teen fiction books had so many with vampires and the topic of death, one glamorizing suicide. God made this earth to be a paradise. He never intended for people to die. He wants us to live life abundantly, joyfully, purposefully. He never wants His children to suffer from depression and illness and strife and hatred.

The devil hates mankind because we are made in the image and likeness of God. God made Lucifer one of the most beautiful angels and gave him the gift of music. In his pride he decided all the beings in heaven should worship him and not God. So all-powerful God cast him out of heaven with the angels that followed him. The rest stayed with God.

John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came to give us life abundantly, the devil came to steal, kill and destroy.

Isaiah 14:12, (KJV) says: How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

The apostle Paul warns the early church to beware of pretenders that infiltrate the church. In 2Cor 11:13, he writes, ” For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
2Cor 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

Rev 12:7 tells us: Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back,
Rev 12:8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.”

Unlike Star Wars and one episode of Star Trek that I remember, there is no equal battle of evil and good. In the Bible, good conquers evil. It’s not even close. God is all-powerful. Satan has some power, but it’s limited, especially when there are many Christians living for God and praying for His help. When people reject God and His Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit that gives the devil room to expand his power, but always with God over all.

So, I came home and put some belongings away and half listened to a television program with people battling each other within their own groups and against other groups and that’s when I asked my husband if the world seemed darker to him and closer to the return of Jesus Christ. I saw a t-shirt in FYE at the mall, an entertainment store. They had a picture of a man resembling the actors that portray Jesus in a pair of dark sunglasses saying, “I’m coming back.”

The world jokes about Jesus, just as the nations joked about Noah and his ark. Yet every people group throughout the world has a verbal story handed down throughout the generations of a worldwide flood. The topography of our world is evidence of ravishing waters having prevailed and geologists have found that oil deposits were made from pressurized deposits of ruined vegetation and animal carcasses in massive quantities.

So I feel as if my time is flying away and the world’s time is moving rapidly toward the fulfillment of biblical end time prophesies. “Keep me mindful of You, Lord I pray.”

Satan loves to distract us with the cares of this life and this life is short. I hope you are treasuring your time and seeking answers to the important questions of life. I’m trying to. God help us all.

Easter – Resurrection Sunday

Hi! I wrote this for our church’s April newsletter. I’m copying it here because I love what Jesus did for everyone and because I’ve had a stomach bug three times in March and so I’m catching up on things as I carry on in life. God bless. I intend to share comments made on the blog on how to find the “right” spouse later this week.

Consider the love of God, which never fails. Romans 8:38,39 (KJV) says: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I remember going to Catholic Church as a young girl seeing the Stations of the Cross, as they were called, miniature three dimensional carvings of the steps Jesus took on the way to the crucifixion – ending with His dead body being held by loved ones as they began to place him in a stone hewn resting place.

As I got older, on Good Friday at noon, I read the Bible’s account of Jesus’ betrayal and then His journey to the cross and to His death to my Mom. It was our tradition. I wasn’t born again yet, but the sacrifice Jesus made for my sin touched me deeply.

Resurrection means to be revived from death. After hearing that Jesus’ choice to endure the suffering and agony at Golgotha would enable me to be in a right relationship with God, I eventually understood salvation and asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior!

He rose from the dead after three days in the tomb. My flesh came alive to the Spirit of God after many years of hearing His Word and many months of listening to an evangelical friend that didn’t give up on me. She prayed for me, she gave me nuggets of truth five school days of the week.

There are so many lies about Jesus – He’s not God, He’s just a prophet, a child of God like we are. Satan loves to deceive people; ensnare people with hurts, offenses, addictions; kill people with lies about suicide offering a peaceful alternative to this world.

Jesus said in John 10:10 (KJV), “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly.”

It’s never too late to experience God’s love, His deliverance, His protection, His provision, His still small voice welcoming you to get to know Him better.
